Leveraging open hardware to alleviate the burden of COVID-19 on global health systems

summary: In the global response to COVID-19 there is a shortfall of staffing, facilities, and equipment facing up to high demand for diagnosis, isolation, and treatment. This preprint summarises community based approaches based on Free and Open Source scientific and medical Hardware that is being developed to support access to personal protective equipment to support patient treatment and diagnostics. The work highlights how skilled members of the community can contribute to the global response to this pandemic.
